What makes Hope unique versus bigger cities in BC—and how can the community leverage that uniqueness for future growth?

I moved to Hope from Surrey about two years ago, and honestly, it feels like a completely different world. Things move slower, people are friendlier, and you actually get to know your neighbors. It’s refreshing compared to city life. I’m curious though — what do you think makes Hope truly unique, and how can that be used to help the town grow without losing its small-town feel?

I’ve been here most of my life, and I think Hope’s biggest strength is its balance — it’s small enough to keep that tight-knit feel, but close enough to bigger centers for convenience. The natural setting helps too — you can’t beat those mountain views. A lot of local businesses in Hope, BC are already doing great at leaning into that uniqueness with outdoor-focused services and community-centered events. Growth should build on that, not replace it.
